May 21-23 Global Game Jam at MoWerks in Athens GA

May 21 - 23:  Global Game Jam and MoWerks in Athens, GA.
MoWerks Learning is hosting the Georgia regional Global Game Jam focusing on Healthy Living. This nationwide event, sponsored by the IGDA and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is a joint initiative of both Games for Health and Health Games Research. These initiatives are supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Pioneer Portfolio. Game Jams will simultaneously occur in major US cities.

 

June 21-25: GameWerks Summer Camp in Athens, GA

June 21 - 25: GameWerks I Summer Camp in Athens, GA.
The GameWerks experience starts here! Learn all about the video game industry and work with a group to construct a game idea you'll pitch to real video game professionals. You will evaluate video games, conduct research on different types of software, hardware and development tools, and start turning a preliminary game design into an actual video game!  Note: Students can complete GameWerks 1 & 2 in a single summer. Ages 12-17.

 

Jun. 28: Paper Presentation - ED-Media Conference

Jun. 28th: Much Ado about Culture at ED-MEDIA Conference.
On June 28, 2010, Dr. Michael Orey will present a paper entitled, "Much Ado About Culture" at the annual conference of Educational Media in Toronto, Canada. This paper was written in collaboration with Dr. Tel Amiel, Universidade Estadual do Campinas, Brazil, Dr. Jaime Muñoz-Arteaga from the Universidad Automata de Aguascalientes, Mexico, and Mr. Rafael Rojano from the Universidad de Veracruz.
